The value of that game is calculated, 2.The square root of this value is calculated, 3.This number is multiplied by the appropriate number in the ratings' chart (see below) 4.This result is added to the winner's rating and subtracted from the loser's rating. -------------------------------------------------- Ratings'charts: Winner's rating minus loser's rating / Game value is multiplied by: 400 points to 499 points / 3 points 300 points to 399 points / 5 points 200 points to 299 points / 8 points 100 points to 199 points / 12 points 0 points to 99 points / 16 points -100 points to -1 points / 20 points -200 points to -101 points / 24 points -300 points to -201 points / 27 points -400 points to -301 points / 29 points -------------------------------------------------- Example: Let's say that a player who is rated at 1750 points beats an opponent who is rated at 1500 points by gammoning him in a game that has been doubled to 16 points. First, the value of the cube (16) is multiplied by two for the gammon, equaling 32. Second, the square root of this number is taken, which is 5, since decimal places are dropped. Third, since the winner's rating is 250 points higher than the loser's, we multiply 5 (for the game) by 8 (as found in the third row of the ratings' table, yielding a result of 40. This is the number of points that is added to the winner's rating and subtracted from the loser's rating. |
